नवरात्रि की उत्पत्ति
नवरात्रि का पौराणिक आधार महाशक्ति दुर्गा की महिषासुर पर विजय की कहानी से जुड़ा है। पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, महिषासुर नामक एक अत्यंत शक्तिशाली दानव था, जिसका जन्म एक ऋषिवर और एक भैंस के मिलन से हुआ था। अपनी कठोर तपस्या से उसने ब्रह्मा
जी से यह वरदान प्राप्त कर लिया था कि उसे कोई भी देवता या पुरुष नहीं मार पाएगा; उसकी मृत्यु केवल एक स्त्री के हाथों से ही संभव थी। इस वरदान के अहंकार में चूर होकर, महिषासुर ने तीनों लोकों पर अत्याचार करना शुरू कर दिया। उसने स्वर्ग पर आक्रमण कर देवताओं को पराजित कर दिया। अपनी हार से हताश होकर, सभी देवता ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश के पास सहायता के लिए पहुँचे। अपनी सामूहिक

The Significance of the Goddess's Vehicle
Ludhiana, September 21 (Shiv Punjabi): On the auspicious occasion of Sharad Navratri, Astrologer Bhagyaraj Gupt shared that this year, Sharad Navratri will begin on Monday, September 22. Maa Durga will arrive on an elephant, which is considered an extremely auspicious omen. This arrival on an elephant symbolizes the ushering in of happiness, prosperity, and good fortune for the entire year. In contrast, her departure vehicle is a human, which holds a different symbolic meaning.
The Origin of Navratri
The mythological foundation of Navratri is linked to the story of Mahashakti Durga's victory over the demon Mahishasura. According to ancient tales, Mahishasura, a powerful demon born from the union of a sage and a buffalo, received a boon from Lord Brahma after intense penance. This boon stated that no god or man could kill him; he could only be defeated by a woman. Swollen with arrogance from this blessing, Mahishasura began to torment the three worlds and even defeated the gods in heaven.
Distraught by their defeat, all the gods sought help from Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh. By combining their collective energies, these deities created a new, supreme female power known as Durga. During this process, each god bestowed their specific weapon upon the goddess. Shiva gave his trident, Vishnu gave his discus, Varuna gave his conch shell, and other deities gave their respective weapons. The Himalayas presented her with a lion as her vehicle. This act symbolically represents that Goddess Durga is not a separate power but the unified and ultimate form of all divine forces.
Following her creation, Goddess Durga challenged Mahishasura to a battle with a ferocious roar. The fierce war lasted for nine days, during which Mahishasura attempted to deceive the goddess by taking on various illusory forms. Finally, on the ninth day, the goddess beheaded him with her discus, leading to the victory of righteousness and the restoration of cosmic order.
Navratri Rituals and the Nine Forms
The nine goddesses worshipped during Navratri are not separate deities but nine different forms of the same Mahashakti. According to astrologer Bhagyaraj Gupt, the reading of the Durga Saptashati should be performed as follows to complete one cycle:
First Day: Chapter 1
Second Day: Chapters 2 and 3
Third Day: Chapter 4
Fourth Day: Chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8
Fifth Day: Chapters 9 and 10
Sixth Day: Chapter 11
Seventh Day: Chapters 12 and 13
Havan (fire ritual) should be performed on the eighth day, followed by the Purnahuti (final offering) on the ninth day.
